(Pic:Up) The red thing on the water you see is called Torii, a sacred arch;a gateway at the entrance to a Shinto shrine. There is a shrine up from there in the mountain. I don't know why they built the torii and the shrine there, though.

(pic:below) Yukiaki with bass. He pulled it out of middle of nowhere, and it was quite deep. He said lots of structures were down there.

(pic: right) Jun's second fish. A female 2 pounder. Good fish.

Maybe someday.... we catch bass again

Well, it only took 1.5 hours when coming over Hakone. But I guessed going home will take twice as much or more because we need to go through Tokyo, the most heaviest traffic city in Japan. Thus, we told Jun that we should leave the lake before the traffic gets bad.
Because of that, we all only had a couple of more hours to fish, so we decided to go to the other side of the lake.
This area had much larger rocks on the bottom; moreover, there were weeds. And spring water springs out the bottom, too. It looked a lot better than the first spot.
Right after we moved in this area, Yukiaki caught a 2 pounder. He used a jig and bumped on the bottom.

Lake Ashinoko is really a tough lake because you only get to cast hardbaits. It's real clear water, and bass are very pressured by anglers as well. However, it's nice to fish here due to the great scenery. My wife said she doesn't need to hold a rod but just float on the water and look at the nature... Good point.

How many did I catch? Forget about it.
