John Kerr leads WON Bass U.S. OPEN for 10.35Lb

05usopenday1kerr-2.jpgThe 22nd WON Bass U.S. OPENĦĦjust began at Nevada's Lake Mead. The lake's water level has got real low for years. Once it's rumored that U.S. OPEN of 2005 might be held at a different lake, but the water level got a bit higher. The tournament officials determind to do it at their usual OPEN fishery. On Day 1, it was really sunny with no wind. Fishing became very tough. The top weight brought in by John Kerr was only 10.35Lb.

Many said it's difficult to make keepers bite. Seems like they caught lots of non-keepers today.

John Kerr, a monster bass hunter from California, the winner of U.S. OPEN 2003, weight-inned 10.35Lb today. He was the only angler who brought more than 10 Lb on day 1. Tim Klinger, former Wal-Mart FLW 05usopenday1martens-2.jpg05usopenday1clunn-2.jpgTour angler, came in 2nd, Stan Vanderburg in 3rd, Jamie Cyphers in 4th, Scott Mascadri in 5th.

All time WON Bass favorite Gary Dobyns in 11th, AOY of BASS CITGO Bassmaster TOUR 2004 Aaron Martens in 12th, John Murray of 2 times U.S. OPEN winner in 21st, Mike Folkestad of 3 times U.S. OPEN winner in 49th, Rick Clunn of 2 times U.S. OPEN winner in 51st tie.
