¡ÈI¡Çve had one area where I could go and get an early morning bite on the outgoing tide with a topwater,¡É Peek said. ¡ÈI caught a couple there this morning, and after that, I fished around grassbeds and docks with soft-plastic lures.¡É

Peek caught his topwater bass on a Zoom Horny Toad and a Pop-R. Later in the day, while fishing the docks and grassbeds, he threw a weighted, green-pumpkin Zoom fluke to catch his bass. All but one of the fish in Thursday¡Çs five-bass limit were quality fish that broke the 3-pound mark.

Rounding out the top five pros are Mike Hicks of Mineral (10 bass, 29 pounds, 14 ounces); Bo Curry of Monrobia, Md. (10 bass, 27 pounds, 5 ounces); Peter Herbst of Arlington (10 bass, 27 pounds, 3 ounces); and Michael Hall of Annandale (10 bass, 26 pounds, 6 ounces).

On Thursday, he fished with Ron Wolfarth of Locust, N.C. ¡ÈIt was completely different today,¡É Jenkins said. ¡ÈI threw spinning tackle with 10-pound test. I wouldn¡Çt have thought about doing that yesterday.¡É Jenkins caught Thursday¡Çs bass on a Yamamoto Senko.

(nine bass, 19 pounds, 8 ounces); Larry Church of Keysville (seven bass, 19 pounds, 2 ounces); Mike McDonald of Randleman, N.C.
